About the area
The UWA School of Agriculture and Environment is committed to high impact research and quality teaching. It spans three broad disciplines: Agricultural and Resource Economics; Agricultural Science, Technology and Engineering; and Environmental Science. The School is recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join its well-established livestock science group.
About the opportunity
- Develop and deliver high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and excellence in supervision of research students
- Develop research collaborations, and apply for funding, within the broad area of the adaptation of livestock systems to a changing environment
- Build and maintain a strong working relationship with producers, agri-industry groups, national and international collaborators
About you
- Hold a PhD in animal science or a related relevant discipline
- Have a sound knowledge and understanding of the ruminant microbiome, genetic strategies to improve livestock resilience, biology of livestock adaptation and a demonstrated conceptual knowledge of ruminant production system.
- Have a commitment to high-quality teaching with a willingness to develop curriculum and a commitment to continuous improvement and enhancement of student experience
- Have experience with designing and leading field studies within both intensive and extensive sheep and cattle production systems
- Possess an excellent track record of original research and/or industry impact in agriculture relevant to the position, including high-quality publications as lead author
- Have a strong track record of successful supervision or co-supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD student research projects/dissertations.
