2nd AESE Roadshow

Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, Tuesday  20 March 2012

     Improving Research Quality and Relevance
Incorporating a Statistics and Study Design Workshop

The second AESE CPD Roadshow will be held at Hartpury College on Tuesday 20th March 2012.

The aim of the morning will be to provide an equine relevant short course on statistics and study design utilising practical and relevant examples, including information on questionnaire design and text mining.  The information provided should be invaluable for equine lecturers and researchers from the undergraduate project supervisor to the post graduate researcher.  The afternoon will feature key topics linked to the theme of improving research output quality and relevance.  In addition there will be an opportunity for some participants to arrange for one to one sessions with the speakers and other members of the AESE Concept Board.  The day will also be a wonderful opportunity to network and meet potential new collaborators.  Delegates will be given a certificate of attendance for CPD purposes.

Please note: the equine relevant short course on statistics and study design running during the morning of this event will be different to the session that ran at Moreton Morrell on Wednesday 7th December 2011.  For this Roadshow some reading, including data, will be circulated prior to the event.

The target audience for AESE currently is equine and equine-related lecturers, tutors and postgraduate researchers, to facilitate networking and provide targeted CPD.  The Roadshows are therefore not designed for undergraduate students although AESE will continually review its remit in order to ensure it reflects the needs and requirements of those actively involved in the initiative.  It is envisaged the next Roadshow; Wednesday 7th November 2012, at Askham Bryan College, will be targeted at representatives from the equine industry and trade involved or interested in research, as well as those directly involved in equine education and research.  The Roadshow is open to non-British Isles delegates, but priority will be given to those from institutions in this region.

These pre-bookable confidential sessions are a chance to discuss data, project design issues or concerns, or to examine possible ways to address a particular problem.  The exact content of these sessions will be up to those booking.  However, as these sessions are obviously limited in number you are required to have registered by Wednesday 7th March 2012 to take advantage of them.  Further details will be sent to you post-registration.
