Healthy Food from Healthy Animals

2012AC.gifWhilst we need more food to feed the growing world population predicted to be 9 billion by 2050 this food 2012AC.gifhas to be of good quality, nutritious and beneficial 2012AC.gifto the health of consumers. 

There is much debate about the healthiness of foods that animals provide  especially dairy products and red meat but it is crucial that public health policy is based on up-to-date factual data.  Whilst any limitations in the value of animal-derived foods must be recognized so must the opportunities that exist to maximize both production and the qualities of the food to positively help human health.

This conference will enable delegates to debate the issues and challenges associated with producing food from healthy animals that is healthy for consumers, economically sustainable and from systems that benefit the environment and encompasses good welfare and ethics. This conference draw together up-to-date knowledge and will thus be relevant to commercial and research scientists, those working in the agricultural and food industry, advisors, vets, farmers and policy makers.

EQUINE SESSIONS

What will be presented: Each session will have at least one keynote speaker who will present the latest advances in areas of research specific to equine science.  There are two equine-specific sessions and two sessions with equine emphasis, yet include important translation to other species. Each key note speaker will be followed by oral presentations from offered abstracts submitted to BSAS. Submit your abstract now! BSAS is a friendly society and welcome abstracts from graduates wishing to gain experience of presenting at a prestigious conference as well as established researchers.
